With exquisitely designed scenery and costumes, New York Theatre Ballet recasts Alice in Wonderland as a lively 1915 Follies show. The musical pieces range from nineteenth-century favorites by Schumann, Sousa, and Debussy to rag and pop songs of the pre- World War I era (“Glow Worm” and “Oh, You Beautiful Doll”) as Alice’s world of dance unwinds in a capti- vating whirl of acrobatics, ballroom dancing, classical ballet, cakewalks, burlesque movements, hambone, and gumboot.
