| Rave On! The Roots of Rock and Roll
Squeaky Clean
Thursday, December 9
Grades 1–8
Workshop: Movement Activities, Grades 1–4, 50 students max
From “Rock Around the Clock” to “Hound Dog” to “Twist and Shout,” a four-piece band (that includes the teenage daughter of its founders) with multimedia backdrop recreates the fun and history of rock and roll. Sing along as the band traces the influence of African and European folk music while showing how technology, social changes, and even American teenagers had a role in defining a genre that’s still rocking the musical scene.
“It was impossible to listen to the performance without participating. I would recommend this group to other schools.” —John Singleton, Cultural Arts VP, Baldwin UFSD
