Workshop: Turning Your Stories into Plays
25 students maximum
It’s 1856, and Addison White, a slave living in Kentucky, flees north to Ohio on the Underground Railroad. Pursued by federal mar- shals, White is taught to read by a new friend, and defended by ordi- nary citizens who help him gain freedom. Mad River Theater Works enjoys an international reputation for authentic presentations that capture the rhythms and folkways of everyday life and make history pop right out of the past. Freedom Bound uses storytelling, drama, and
live music to illustrate this turbulent chapter in American his- tory through one man’s courageous story.
“I really enjoyed the play; it really inspired me. After I saw the play I was anxious to get on the stage to be a character.” —Dwight, P.S. 224@226Q
