Free Event
Kupferberg Center Performances and Houses on the Moon Theater Company present a free staged reading of the documentary theater piece, De Novo, written and directed by Jeffrey Solomon at the Jackson Heights Library on Monday, September 19th at 6:30 pm.
De Novo is a documentary theater piece, a true story, crafted from immigration court transcripts, interviews and letters that recount the harrowing story of Edgar Chocoy. As a fourteen year-old, he fled gang violence in Guatemala and traveled over 3,000 miles, through three countries to the United States in search of his mother. De Novo depicts the plight of “unaccompanied alien minors” held in immigration custody in the U.S. and the fight for justice and asylum.
The Jackson Heights Library is located at 35-51 81st Street, Jackson Heights, NY 1137 and the telephone number for the branch is 718-899-2500. It is accessible via bus: Q19, Q32, Q33 and Q66 and subway: 7 to 82nd Street or by car.
